What I’ve Learned Using the Tarot

Wisdom Gained While Holding Space for Others

This is a list of things I know for sure after doing hundreds of readings for clients, loved ones, and myself.

  1. Trust myself.
My first instinct is usually right. Mixing that up with second-guessing or rationalizing defeats the purpose of intuition and insight. I feel this is generally true when we begin with a calm, settled mindset.

  2. People want confirmation of what they already know (and maybe just haven’t said out loud yet).
So many times, clients tell me that they knew the answers to their questions before their reading and I’ve given them confirmation. This underlines an important role for a Tarot reader: a trusted confidant who really listens without judging and sees the person behind the questions. I take this responsibility seriously and I’m honored to serve others in this way.

[A good Tarot reader should] really, really listen to you, instead of just waiting for their turn to speak.”
    -Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club

  3. Many of us are seeking reassurance.
We’re looking for stability, for some truth or an encouraging word to hold onto as we navigate life. The simple feeling of being truly heard can be healing. Getting validation for our feelings and our fears is often a huge relief. I value my ability to create a safe space, however brief, for my client to “feel their feelings”.

  4. I LOVE reading the Tarot for others.
The opportunity to encourage others while acknowledging their challenges is an amazing gift. Giving Tarot readings allows me to coach people through tough situations. As a Tarot reader, I teach my clients to trust themselves. I’m highly motivated by the opportunity to set people up for success.

  5. A picture really can be worth a thousand words.
The details of the artwork in the cards act like keys, reminding us of something helpful we learned a long time ago or sparking that aha moment we need right now.
